Hello fellow go player,
Happy New Year! Welcome to the January, 2012
newsletter from Bay Area Go
Players Association. Kick off 2012 on the right foot by participating in
these upcoming go activities here in the Bay Area:

games on Sunday. Jiang ZhuJiu 9P and Rui NaiWei 9P are expected to
attend. All levels are welcome. This tournament will have an open
section for the strongest players, and will serve as a qualifier for the
North American Masters competition to be held in August. The entry fee

$10 discount for current AGA members. Find out more from the tournament flier.
The 20th Anniversary Jujo Jiang Goe Tournament is sponsored by Ing's Goe
Foundation and the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.
Free Lecture with Joey Hung 8 Dan on January 12 in San Francisco
Joey
Hung 8 dan is one of the strongest go players in the Bay Area, and he
has a lot of experience teaching go to adults and children at all
playing levels. Joey will give a go lecture at the San Francisco Go Club
on Thursday, January 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The lecture is free, and
you do not need to be a member of the San Francisco Go Club in order to
attend. Players of all levels are welcome. Joey's lectures in 2011 were
very popular, and he showed a great ability to adjust his teaching
material based on the experience level of those attending.
Bring a game record if you've got one, just in case Joey wants to review
one of your games. Stick around after the lecture and play go with old
friends, or make some new ones!
This event is sponsored by Bay Area Go Players Association and the San
Francisco Go Club. The club is located at 500 8th Avenue, at Anza.
Next Monthly Ratings Tournament February 11 in Menlo Park
There
will be no monthly ratings tournament this month, but the monthlies
will pick up again on Saturday, February 11 at the Ing Goe Center in
Menlo Park--home of the Palo Alto Go Club. This tournament will follow
the usual monthly format with all play taking place on one day and
continuous pairing so that everyone can play as many or as few games as
they like. The entry fee will be the usual
$5 for players under 23 and $10 for everyone else ($5 higher if you pay
at the door instead of registering online).
The March monthly ratings tournament is scheduled for March 11 at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center
in the heart of Oakland's Chinatown district. Please note that this
tournament will be held on a Sunday instead of the usual Saturday.
