June 2012 Workshop with Janice Kim 3P

Registration for this workshop is now closed.

Picture of Janice Kim Bay Area Go Players Association is pleased to present an educational go workshop with the ever-popular Janice Kim, 3 Dan Professional. This will be her only Bay Area workshop in 2012. Seating is limited, so sign up quickly.

This two-day weekend workshop, to be held June 23-24 in Berkeley, consists of four sessions covering distinct topics. Janice has developed some interesting new ways to approach the age-old question, "How can I improve my go playing?" Each student will have the opportunity to submit game records before the workshop, and Janice will use them to tailor discussions to the specific interests and needs of the students. Each student will receive a workshop manual containing the records to be discussed, and files will be available for download as well.

Scene from a past Janice Kim workshop In her own words, Janice says the main idea of the content of this workshop is, "I enjoy seeing the clever moves played in finely-tuned games between world-class players, but what I really need to know is what to do with the messed-up positions, wacky moves, and mistakes that come up in my games."

The workshop is open to go players of all strengths. Players below 10 kyu may want at least a year's go experience to benefit from this workshop. (Please contact the workshop organizer at the email address shown below.)

Scene from a past Janice Kim workshop Janice Kim 3P is co-author of the award-winning book series Learn to Play Go, and her lectures at the San Francisco Go Club and past workshops have been very popular. Janice recently taught a workshop in Portland, Oregon where most students rated the workshop 5 stars out of a possible 5, and no student rated the workshop lower than 4 stars. "Best workshop ever attended," reads one of the feedback forms.

Register today for this great opportunity to learn from Janice Kim, 3 Dan Professional, in her only Bay Area workshop this year. Space is limited. Janice's workshop in Portland sold out—get your seat for the Berkeley workshop before they are all gone.
