July 2010 Workshop with Janice Kim 3P
Registration for this workshop is now closed.
Bay Area Go Players Association is pleased to present an educational Go
workshop with Janice Kim, 3 Dan Professional.
This two-day workshop will be held Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25, 2010
in San Francisco, near the San Francisco Go Club. The workshop is open to Go
players 15 kyu and stronger. Material is presented as an exploration of
different viewpoints so that players of all levels can interact with the
material at their level and break down barriers to progress.
The workshop will include lectures, game analysis, interactive exercises, and
question and answer sessions. Workshop students will turn in sample records of
their games before the workshop begins so that Janice Kim can customize
workshop content specifically to the needs of each student. Review your games
and add your own comments to the records, including what you feel are your and
your opponent's best five moves in the game, and your reasoning. The best game
review (judged on the basis of quality of level-appropriate questions and clear
reasoning, not "correctness") will receive a mysterious, elaborate silk box
containing a special prize. You are encouraged to submit two records to double
your chances of winning.
The workshop is divided into sessions so you can still attend the workshop
even if you cannot make it to one of the sessions. There will also be an
optional no-host dinner with Janice Kim Saturday night at a nearby Korean
restaurant.
Janice Kim is co-author of the award-winning book series
Learn to Play Go, and her monthly
lectures at the San Francisco Go Club are very popular. Janice Kim is one of
only a few western women to be recognized as a professional by the Korea Baduk
Association.
Register now for this outstanding opportunity to learn from Janice Kim,
3 Dan Professional. Tune up your game before the U.S. Open in August. Or, if you
won't be going to Colorado for the Go Congress, consider this a mini-Congress
instead!
